Our Values

Accessibility

Accessible design benefits everyone, online and off. Good for your users, good for your search ranking, good for avoiding lawsuits.

Ease

Ease of use for your audience. Easy to manage for you. All projects require attention and effort, but there should be no unnecessary complications.

Education

You don’t need to be an expert on web design. But understanding the basics will help you manage your site with confidence.

Equity

I offer tiered pricing structures based off of company size. If you find these prices cost prohibitive and you are an actor, performer, artist, musician, designer, and/or if you are trans / Two-Spirit / nonbinary, Black, Indigenous, AAPI, Latine, and/or disabled, please reach out. I offer sliding scale pricing and also take on select projects pro-bono.

Transparency

We're up-front about pricing & process. Want to know how or why we arrived at a number or a design decision? We're happy to break it down for you.

Okay, so what's with all those house & construction metaphors?

Our Approach: Web Tectonics

Tectonics

In architecture, tectonics is the art and science of construction. How materials chosen and methods used to build can enhance artistic expression and usage of the space.

Web Tectonics

Web Tectonics is what ECP Designs calls the art and science of web development. How curation & preparation of content and underlying structure can enhance artistic expression and usage of the website. Every project is approached through this framework.

What does this mean? Content-first design.

Content-first design means we don’t start designing until copy and assets are set.

Instead of designing something that looks great but fights with the underlying functionality, we design a custom solution for intentionally-structured content.

Meet your web architect

Hi, I'm Eleanor

A little bit about me…

I’ve been working as a graphic & web designer for over a decade.

I started out designing posters for theater and have since designed book covers, album art, packaging, merchandise, logos, pitch decks, and many, many websites.

I love spreadsheets, puzzles, organizing — all the technical minutia that can make people feel overwhelmed, tense, or just bored to death is fun for me.

So as ECP Designs has grown from a side-project to a full-time business, I’ve aimed to take the stress out of websites for small businesses, creatives, and service providers who need to manage their own site.

Whether I’m developing the whole visual identity, taking inspiration from your brand guide or incredible new photos, or being brought on to bring a design to life, I balance attention to detail and a sharp eye for design with a chill and calming energy.

Brooklyn / Anywhere

When not building websites, I can be found...

at home with my husband & cats (Pippin & Oscar, pictured) in Brooklyn.

Pippin, a large silver cat, basking regally in the sun.
Oscar, a grey and white cat, yawns while looking out the window.

My personal aesthetic is...

I’m drawn to 70s color palettes and bold typography. That said, I love to experiment and some of my favorite projects have been strong collaborations in totally different visual genres.

My favorite colors

This burnt orange is a solid percentage of my wardrobe.

Obsessed with phthalo green.

Picture taken of a page of Robert Opie's 1970s scrapbook. Various 1970s ephemera including the Muppets, ABBA, and The Aristocats.
Carpet designed by Tekla Evelina Severin — a series of squares in different colors like mustard yellow, olive green, and lavander.
